Within the last year, I made a commitment to travel more. To start to see the world, other cultures and to just relax and revel in existence. Everytime I come back from a trip, I am rejuvenated, filled with ideas and a little more ambitious. Lucky for me, my job enables me to travel and talk about my encounters with everyone!
Most recently We went on a 7-day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean with Princess Cruises I’ll have a few posts in the next month posting my experience with all of you. There were so many different experiences, it becomes quite difficult to narrow it down to just one single post.
We left on a Sunday away from Fort Lauderdale and collection sail over the shiny blue ocean. This was my first time going on a cruise ship, so I actually experienced no idea what things to expect.
We attained our rooms to find two twin bedrooms, a shower and a lovely balcony. I believe we ate more food than we’re able to handle too… but I’ll show you all the food in part 2 of this post.
First let’s get right to where we went and what we did!
Princess Kays, Bahamas
Our first end was Princess Kays within the Bahamas; we appeared the day after we left the US. The weather was superb and I hadn’t remember seeing drinking water that clear since I visited Australia this past year.
Since my mother and I both LOVE staying active on vacations, we thought we would do a kayaking excursion while there.
P.S. It’s a good idea to do active excursions while on vacation, especially if you know you’ll be eating your fair talk about of dessert.
The beautiful part about the kayak is the fact that underneath was actually transparent; even though water was obvious, we didn’t find any fish. OR SHARKS.
After our day at Princess Kays, we returned and recieved massages off their beautiful Lotus Spa You can take a 360 degree tour of the spa to get a sense of how gorgeous it really is. I got a bamboo therapeutic massage which is much like deep tissue.
I’ve been having some neck and back issues lately, therefore the therapeutic massage was such a nice treat to take pleasure from.
We enjoyed fabulous meals every night and had a blast having Mom & daughter time together, specifically since I live in Chicago and she’s in Minneapolis.
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
We spent a trip to sea and then arrived at St. Thomas; the weather was warm and the people were kind. We’d a walking, kayak and snorkel guided excursion and met our guides at the port. It was a straightforward process and once again, I loved feeling energetic and experiencing all the island’s natural beauty.
The kayaking was beautiful and smooth. The tour guides spoke regarding the jellyfish, the plant life, algae and certain fish we might observe. The water was a pale, very clear blue and I was quickly able to discover jellyfish within the lagoon.
We paddled to a separate area of the isle, then still left our kayaks and went for a quick hike. Through the hike, we learned all about perhaps one of the most poisonous plants on the planet and also discovered hermit crabs with the hundreds. It had been amazing!
The crab finished up pinching me! That jerk.
We followed the hiking path right down to a pebble rocked walkway close to the ocean where waves were crashing on the stones. I literally experienced simply no idea how gorgeous St. Thomas was, but now I can realize why we ceased there. Have any of you been? Inform me!
After our hike, we snorkeled and saw several rainbow fish, barracuda, and plenty of coral. I’m pleased my Mom could experience the snorkeling; it was her first-time and she was a trooper.
Before we returned on the ship, we grabbed lunch at Barefoot Buddha Highly recommend if you are ever in St. If you are you looking for more regarding stuffed zucchini boats rice check out the website. Thomas!
I spent your day in St. Maarten with Lee from Suit Foodie Finds and her sweetheart, Blake. We were supposed to embark on a catamaran but both sensed like we wanted to get a experience for the isle and scope out a number of the food.
We stopped by a Caribbean restaurant and We ordered bruschetta along with a Caribbean chopped salad with chicken. It wasn’t anything crazy delicious, but since Lee and I got both went 3 mls that morning, we needed gasoline in our bellies.
AND DESSERT, obviously.
Also happy about running those three miles, because I believe I ended up having dessert that night too. I told you.
My only regret is that We wasn’t in a position to spend additional time at St. Maarten. The history of the isle is very interesting, as half of it’s French and the spouse, Dutch. I am hoping to go back some day and check out some of the food and culture from both sides.
Question: Have you ever been to any of these places? I’d love to hear what you do and any recommendations for others. It’s always fun to listen to about delicious eats or actions!
I’ll be back with component 2 shortly and displaying you my intense body shred workout through the ship! xoxo.
I went on that exact guided hike/snorkel/kayak experience in St. Thomas and I cherished it! The manuals were great and I always tell people I’d completely advise that in an effort to see the island!
